06.05.14 The 8th Key for Evaluating the Respect for Boundaries in a Prospective Partner Does the Person Avoid Temptation-Prone Environments?

8. Does the Person Avoid Temptation-Prone Environments?

Observe how the prospective partner manages environments or spaces. Does the person create conditions that protect restraint or does she or he encourage isolated and emotionally charged settings that are ‘inviting’, seductive, tempting and could weaken discipline?

Although the Bible is silent, Joseph and Mary would have refrained from any environment or space that could have exposed them to compromise (Matthew 1:25; Luke 2:19). They were so committed to upholding their principles to the extent that Joseph was so sure that the pregnancy was not his.

In contrast, Victor repeatedly created environments that increased temptation. He encouraged late and private interactions in isolated settings, which weakened the couple’s restraint and eroded boundaries, leading to emotional and practical predicaments.

The choices a prospective partner makes about ‘environments’ reveal whether the individual is ready to safeguard personal boundaries or expose you to imminent risk. A partner who deliberately protects such settings demonstrates principled restraint and readiness for a disciplined and upright relationship. In addition, avoiding temptation-prone spaces preserves shared dignity and strengthens self-control. Conversely, exposing you to compromising situations reflects a lack of responsibility toward moral boundaries and an absence of foresight and self-control.
