06.03.23 The 6th Practice for Developing a Mature and Responsible Approach to Commitment as You Wait
6. Submit your Commitment to God for Guidance
During your period of waiting, submit your desires, fears and expectations to God. Seek direction through prayer and God’s Word. Remain open to wise counsel from spiritually mature and grounded mentors. When you commit your way to the Lord and trust Him, He directs your path (Psalm 37:5).
A commitment that is not anchored in God can become self-directed and unstable, while a life surrendered to God is marked by humility, reverence and obedience. When such a commitment is guided by God’s truth, it becomes consistent, principled and enduring, forming a strong foundation for a faithful and lasting marital covenant.
