Introducing Purity and Self-Control

Purity and self-control are essential for becoming marriage material because they govern what happens ‘inside you’ before anything is tested ‘outside you’. They shape how you manage thoughts, desires, emotions, conversations and private decisions. This inner discipline determines whether you remain stable as you get more attracted to another person; or when tempted to compromise where nobody is watching.

In this chapter, I will share how purity and self-control have worked in our marriage. Using the fictitious story of Stephen and Maria and the biblical narrative of Ruth and Boaz, we will discuss how to evaluate a prospective partner’s purity and self-control, and how to grow those attributes as you ‘wait’.
