2. Count the Real Cost of Lifelong Commitment

As you wait, learn to honestly assess both the spiritual and practical costs of entering a marriage covenant, before making a commitment that is difficult to reverse. Consider shared responsibilities, family expectations, financial obligations, time demands and the required adjustments, then determine whether you are willing and prepared to embrace those commitments. Luke 14:28 advises us to prepare carefully by counting the cost before committing to a project.

Counting the cost brings clarity and maturity to your decision to enter a lifelong covenant. It protects you from making a commitment based on unrealistic expectations, thereby reducing the risk of future instability that would otherwise arise from your unpreparedness.
