What is Purpose, Direction and Vision?

Purpose refers to the ‘why’. It speaks about the reason for your existence. In a relationship, it answers the question: why are we together? What are we building together? Direction refers to the ‘how’. It describes the intentional path or strategy that you will take to fulfil your purpose, expressed through consistent actions that form your shared mission, which in return refers to the ongoing, practical outworking of your purpose in everyday life, as well as the values and priorities that guide how you will handle life's decisions. Vision is the ‘what’. It gives the big end picture of success. Vision paints the detailed, tangible image of the future that you want to create or are intentionally working towards, often supported by clear personal or shared objectives that give structure to that future.

Therefore, these three attributes determine where a couple is going, why they are going there, how they intend to move forward, including what values will guide their decisions along the way. Purpose, direction and vision dictate whether two people can intentionally and successfully build a life together.
