Introducing Purpose, Direction and Vision
Purpose, direction and vision shape the life that a person is building and the type of spouse she or he will naturally align with in marriage. Many relationships begin with affection, shared interests and sincere intentions, yet struggle later because the couple did not establish where they were going, why they were going there and how they would move forward together. Without a clear purpose, decisions become reactive, priorities shift easily and long-term plans are rarely implemented. Over time, this lack of clarity creates strain, because a marriage cannot remain stable when two people are moving toward different destinies.
In this chapter, I will narrate how purpose, direction and vision work in our marriage. Drawing from the fictitious story of Lydia and Sebastian, alongside the biblical account of Priscilla and Aquila, we will highlight key principles for evaluating the purpose, direction and vision of a prospective partner and how to develop those three elements as you wait.
