06.03.22 The 5th Practice for Developing a Mature and Responsible Approach to Commitment as You Wait

5. Strengthen your Emotional Stability for Sustainable Commitment

As you wait, work intentionally on managing anger, stress, disappointment and emotional pressure that could weaken long-term commitment. Learn to pause before reacting, speak with respect during tension and pursue resolution rather than withdrawal. Proverbs 15:1 teaches that a gentle response reduces conflict while harsh words increase it.

Emotional stability enables you to handle conflict without damaging mutual trust in the relationship. Practise addressing concerns calmly and openly instead of allowing frustration to accumulate. Covenant commitment requires steadiness, patience, humility and self-control. The ability to maintain respect under pressure is a strong indicator of readiness for lifelong commitment.
