06.01.21 The 3rd Practice for Developing Personal Spiritual Alignment as You Wait
3. Examine and Address Areas that Disrupt Spiritual Alignment
Spiritual alignment requires honest self-examination. Take time to reflect on how you think and respond, and identify patterns that repeatedly surface in your behaviour. Moments of disappointment, correction or unmet expectations often reveal areas that still require attention and growth.
The bible instructs us to examine ourselves (2 Corinthians 13:5). Therefore, do not wait for a relationship to expose what can be addressed now. Identify tendencies such as pride, anger, impatience, compromise, avoidance or emotional dependence. Bring these matters before God in prayer and seek guidance from His Word. You can also find a mature believer who can guide you in areas that require change.
When a weakness becomes evident, acknowledge it without self-justification or denial. Take deliberate steps to change, choosing the right response, especially in situations where old patterns would normally prevail. Over time, this produces visible progress in speech, reactions and obedience, strengthening your readiness for a healthy relationship.
