06.04.22 The 3rd Practice for Developing Purity and Self-Control as You Wait
3. Maintain Consistent Integrity in Private and Public
In your waiting season, aim for consistency of character rather than pegging your purity on who is watching. Remain disciplined even when nobody sees you. Practise truthfulness, restraint and personal responsibility in everyday situations. This is how self-control becomes a stable part of your character rather than a reaction to whether your actions are seen or hidden.
Observe your conduct in both visible and hidden environments. What you permit in private will eventually influence how you behave in public. Avoid maintaining a standard that depends on supervision or visibility. Instead, ensure that your choices remain consistent regardless of the setting.
Integrity is revealed in the small decisions that are often overlooked, such as how you manage your time, what you entertain in private, and how you respond when there are no immediate consequences. When your conduct is consistent across different environments, your character becomes reliable and your commitment to purity is sustained.
