07.03.19 The 3rd Practice for Developing the Understanding and Application of Love Languages as You Wait Develop Emotional Consistency in Communication
3. Develop Emotional Consistency in Communication
Learn to apply love languages intentionally in your interactions with the people in your space. It is not enough to understand how love is expressed and received; you must also translate that understanding into how you relate with others on a daily basis. As you engage with people, pay attention to what makes them feel valued and appreciated, then respond in ways that are meaningful to them.
Make deliberate adjustments in how you express love and care so that your actions are thoughtful and well received rather than assumed or misdirected. This may require you to step outside your natural preferences and demonstrate love in ways that are more meaningful to the other person. In doing so, you develop attentiveness, sensitivity and emotional awareness in your interactions. As stated in Romans 12:10 (NIV): “be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves”.
As you apply love languages consistently in your interactions, you become more perceptive and responsive to the needs of others. This strengthens your ability to build relationships that are supportive, balanced and emotionally meaningful.
