07.01.24 The 5th Practice for Developing Emotional Intelligence as You Wait Develop Motivation through Commitment to Growth and Accountability
5. Develop Motivation through Commitment to Growth and Accountability
Be intentional about your personal development by taking concrete steps to consistently learn, improve and grow. Seek mentorship, counselling or coaching where necessary so that your emotional intelligence continues to mature. Proverbs 27:17 asserts that (ESV): “Iron sharpens iron and one man sharpens another.” Therefore, surround yourself with people who will guide, correct and support your development.
Practise accountability by examining your responses, acknowledging your mistakes and taking responsibility for your behaviour. Use feedback constructively and apply what you learn so that your growth becomes evident in your conduct.
As your growth becomes consistent, you become more self-aware, emotionally balanced and responsible in your relationships. You respond with greater wisdom, handle challenges more effectively and demonstrate maturity in your interactions.
