07.02.21 The 3rd Practice for Developing Emotional Maturity as You Wait Develop Clear and Respectful Communication
3. Develop Clear and Respectful Communication
Focus on clear and respectful communication by explaining how actions affect you, without blaming or accusing people. Seek mutual understanding rather than trying to win arguments. Use “I” statements to express your feelings and avoid generalised statements that can make you sound ‘denfesive’. Such an approach welcomes dialogue and reduces unnecessary conflict.
By communicating effectively, you avoid misunderstandings and hurting people’s feelings unnecessarily. Your relationships become more authentic and meaningful. You are a more empathetic and understanding partner, friend and family member. See what Colossians 4:6 says. That verses says (AMPC): Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].
