09.05.23 The 6th Practice for Developing Social Maturity and Healthy Systems as You Wait

6. Address Past Social Wounds and Allow Healing

Developing your social maturity requires addressing past experiences that may influence how you relate to others. As you wait, reflect honestly on any past rejection, betrayal or shame that may still shape your responses in social situations. Such experiences can sometimes cause a person to withdraw from the community or overshare personal matters in search of reassurance and validation.

Bring these areas before God with honesty and ask Him to help you recognise where healing is still needed. See what Psalm 147:3 says (AMPC): “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]”. Seek guidance from trusted mentors or mature believers who can support you in addressing these matters wisely. As these areas are acknowledged and healed, you will be better prepared to build relationships from a place of stability rather than insecurity.
