09.01.22 The 3rd Practice for Developing Individuality While Building Unity as You Wait

3. Appreciate Differences and Use them as Strengths

In a relationship, differences exist to complement, not compete with one another. When friends learn to appreciate each other’s abilities, they create shared advantage instead of silent competition. Therefore, during your waiting season, learn to focus on how someone's strengths can help your relationship. Be open to learn from others rather than assuming that you know it all. Ask questions to increase your exposure to issues.

Romans 12:4–5 reminds us that just as one body has many members, each having a different function. Therefore, be ready to appreciate other people's unique qualities rather than being jealous. Such a disposition helps you create a positive, supportive and welcoming environment.
