What is ‘Building Trust’?
‘Building Trust’ is the intentional, ongoing process of demonstrating your trustworthiness to a partner; as you grow to trust him or her. ‘Trust’ and ‘Trustworthiness’ are different though related.
Trust is the psychological state or decision to believe in the reliability, honesty and intentions of a partner; opening yourself to vulnerability or risk as you place your confidence in that person, assuming the individual has your best interests at heart. Trustworthiness, on the other hand, is the demonstrated set of traits, qualities, actions and behaviors that make a partner worthy or deserving of your trust. It is a measure of the person’s reliability and dependability, demonstrating that the partner will not break promises or betray your trust.
