Introducing Social Maturity and Support Systems

Every courtship and marriage relationship is influenced by the social environment and support systems surrounding the couple involved. Therefore, beyond the romantic relationship, how an individual relates with a partner reflects that person’s readiness for marriage. It also significantly affects the health and stability of that relationship.

In this chapter, I will explain how ‘social maturity and support systems’ works in our marriage. Referring to the fictitious story of Flavia and Leonard as well as the biblical account of Elizabeth and Zechariah, we will offer advice on evaluating a prospective partner’s social maturity and willingness to build effective support systems; and how to develop that kind of willingness as you wait.
