09.05.22 The 5th Practice for Developing Social Maturity and Healthy Systems as You Wait
5. Build a Purposeful and Healthy Social Life
Social maturity develops as you shape a social life that reflects your values and priorities. During this waiting season, cultivate social practices that encourage healthy interaction with others while protecting your time and personal responsibilities. Choose activities that enable meaningful interaction rather than relying only on casual, impromptu or unstructured gatherings.
Hebrews 10:24 encourages us to consider how they may encourage one another toward love and good works. Therefore, plan occasions that allow thoughtful conversation, shared service and healthy friendships. Practise welcoming people into your life in ways that reflect respect and consideration. Think carefully about how you will handle matters such as hospitality, visits, celebrations and involvement with extended family. Developing these habits while you are still single helps you establish social patterns that support stability, mutual respect and healthy relationships.
