09.02.01 Introducing Conflict Management

Introducing Conflict Management

Conflict is a normal part of any relationship since two individuals cannot think, feel or respond in exactly the same way. On that backdrop, differences in perspectives, expectations and other aspects often create tension, especially when life becomes demanding and the ‘going gets tough’. However, if conflict is well-managed, the relationship remains safe, fulfilling and enjoyable, even under pressure.

In this chapter, I will also briefly discuss how conflict management works in our marriage. Through the fictitious story of Ivan and Elaine together with the biblical account of Abraham and Sarah, we will provide guidance on evaluating a prospective partner’s conflict management skills; and how to develop those kinds of skills as you wait.
