09.02.25 The 6th Practice for Developing Healthy Conflict Management Habits as You Wait
6. Reflect, Learn and Grow from Every Conflict
During your waiting season, treat every conflict as an opportunity for personal growth and development. Every conflict contains information about how each person thinks, feels and responds under pressure. Therefore, pick useful lessons from those lessons from that information rather than ignoring it. After a disagreement, ask yourself what the conflict revealed about you, where you need to improve, what behaviour you displayed and whether that was acceptable and exemplary. Be ready to be corrected. Proverbs 19:20 is very explicit in that regard. That verse reads (NIV): “Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise”. Through self-reflection, you become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses in navigating conflict, thereby learning and growing from the experience; and improving your relationships.
