10.05.26 The 6th Practice for Developing Personal Character Before Marriage as You Wait
6. Prepare for Marriage through Being Consistent
As you wait, strengthen integrity, responsibility and kindness through ordinary daily decisions. Complete what you agree to do without being reminded. Handle resources with planning and accountability and take responsibility when you fall short. Let your apology be genuine then work on the corrections by adjusting accordingly. All in all, endeavour to be guided by your integrity (Proverbs 11:3a).
Avoid behaviours that purposely seek to be noticed as that could sent a message that you are ‘so full of yourself’ thereby appearing self-centred. Refuse to compete for validation. Let your behaviour remain stable and predictable, so that others can trust your presence without fear of hidden motives. As you become intentional about your character, you will be positioned to attract, recognise and sustain a steady partner and a meaningful marriage.
