10.04.24 The 4th Practice for Developing a Teamwork Mindset as You Wait
4. Provide Practical and Emotional Support
As you wait, develop the ability to support peers during demanding seasons. In a team setting, people can face moments of fatigue, overload, responsibility and emotional strain. Pay attention to such moments and respond with genuine care rather than detachment, because supporting others is one of the clearest indicators of partnership maturity. The Bible encourages us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).
Practical support may involve helping with tasks; easing pressure through shared effort; or, stepping in when a burden becomes too heavy for one person. Emotional support includes being present, listening patiently, giving reassurance and remaining engaged even when situations are uncomfortable. Learn to strengthen individuals without controlling them; and, to support people without making them feel indebted.
Such experiences prepare you to build a relationship where care is demonstrated through consistency and loyalty rather than words alone. You become skilled at supporting another person without turning your effort into a favour, a bargaining tool or an emotional debt.
