3. Does the Person Demonstrate Consistency and Reliability through Daily Conduct?

Observe whether the prospective partner’s conduct remains consistent across different seasons and responsibilities. Does the individual show up consistently and complete what is required or is the person’s behaviour irregular and dependent on mood or convenience? Does the person remain dependable as circumstances evolve; or does she or he become unreliable when circumstances change?

Ruth must have noticed Boaz’s consistency and reliability. From their first interaction in the fields to the resolution of the redemption matter, his conduct remained steady and dependable. He spoke with clarity, ensured Ruth’s protection and followed through on the responsibility to address the redemption question without delay (Ruth 2–4). Boaz, in turn, must have observed Ruth’s consistency in the way she remained devoted to Naomi and committed to her work in the fields. She did not abandon the responsibility she had accepted when she chose to accompany Naomi to Bethlehem but continued to labour diligently and conduct herself honourably (Ruth 1–3).

Miriam’s reliability was one of the character traits that won Martin's heart. She handled schedules, planning and responsibility with dependability, showing up on schedule, completing tasks faithfully and remaining emotionally balanced even when exhausted. Miriam remained consistent across different contexts, seasons and pressures, whether at home or abroad, in public or private.

On the other hand, Gloria's conduct was inconsistent and emotionally-driven. She would be enthusiastic when motivated and physically present, yet unreliable and undisciplined when it came to commitments. Her flight schedule became a blanket excuse for avoiding responsibility, while she fronted her emotions to manipulatively escape obligations. This pattern was commonly marked by feelings of entitlement and volatility.

Stability in marriage is built on consistency, not mere romanticism. Trust develops when a person demonstrates predictable and responsible behavior across different seasons. A prospective partner’s character is revealed in sustained patterns of conduct, not isolated incidents. Reliability, discipline and emotional steadiness signal readiness for the demands of marriage, where proven character contributes to providing a secure foundation.
