10.02.20 The 2nd Practice for Developing Personal Responsibility and Accountability as You Wait
2. Develop Proactive Patterns of Communication
During this season of waiting, build the practice of giving feedback on the progress of your assignments and responsibilities early, instead of waiting until deadlines are almost due. Update relevant people while work is still ongoing. Notify them early when the accorded time is insufficient or when adjustments are required. Do not allow your silence to create confusion or assumptions among workmates, family, church members or other people in your community and sphere of influence. Honest communication strengthens trust and clarity in relationships.
Explain what has been completed so far, what remains pending and the steps you are taking to complete the task. This positions you to relate with maturity and accountability, because responsible communication becomes your standard, not a skill you attempt to adopt when you get into a courtship or marriage relationship.
