Introducing Effective Communication

Effective communication is the backbone of any thriving courtship and marriage relationship. In fact, such a partnership is started, established, sustained and strengthened through the way information, that is, thoughts, emotions and actions, are exchanged between two people. Effective communication preserves clarity and strengthens connection by enabling partners to convey and receive messages with accuracy, care and shared understanding.

In this chapter, I will highlight how effective communication works in our marriage. Building on the fictitious story of Patricia and Edwin alongside the biblical account of the Shulamite woman, we will share insights on evaluating a prospective partner’s ability to communicate effectively; and how to develop such an ability as you wait.
