Introducing Responsibility and Accountability

Successful courtship and marriage relationships are made by individuals who recognise their role in shaping outcomes and take ownership of their choices and actions. The ability to act responsibly and be accountable generates trust, reliability and emotional safety, providing stability and predictability, even during challenging seasons. Responsibility and accountability are crucial for building a strong and lasting relationship.

In this chapter, I will discuss how being responsible and accountable works in our marriage. Drawing from the fictitious story of Dorothy and William in conjunction with as the biblical account of Ruth and Boaz, we will provide guidance on evaluating a prospective partner’s sense of responsibility and accountability; and how to develop such a discipline as you wait.
