8. Does the Person’s Behavior Reflect Respect for Authority and Other People’s Contributions?

Observe the prospective partner’s respect for those in authority and the contributions of other people. Does the person honor leadership decisions and acknowledge team efforts; or does she or he undermine authority, belittle others' contributions or create tension when their expectations are not met?

Ruth must have recognised Boaz’s respect for authority and order. Specifically, the man was keen on adhering the redemption law and the authority of the elders that were responsible for it. That is how he went to the city gate, gathered the elders and completed the issue, in accordance to the legal process (Ruth 4:1–12). Respect for church authority and other members' contributions is vital in a marriage relationship. In addition to honouring your contributions, a prospective partner who respects the decisions of church leadership decisions, provided they are authentic, will keep both of you on the right track in your relationship rather than driving you off-course. Also, acknowledges the efforts of team members breeds a collaborative and harmonious environment which is vital for a healthy relationship.
