10.04.22 The 2nd Practice for Developing a Teamwork Mindset as You Wait
2. Strengthen your Partnership through Joint Planning
During your season of waiting, practise planning with others instead of working in isolation. In your teams, groups and ministry settings, there will often be moments that require people to coordinate responsibilities, agree on direction and evaluate progress. Position yourself to contribute to such discussions with maturity, so that you become accustomed to seeking consensus and buy-in rather than simply executing personal ideas. Plans succeed where there is appropriate guidance from many advisers (Proverbs 15:22).
Learn to include others from the beginning of an assignment or project, rather than presenting decisions after they have already been made. When people are included early, they are more likely to cooperate willingly. Also, misunderstandings reduce because expectations are discussed in advance. In this way, joint planning fosters an environment where clarity is built rather than marked with confusion and misunderstanding.
As you grow, develop the ability to handle outcomes with shared accountability. When results fall short, focus on what must be corrected and how improvement can be made, rather than shifting blame to individuals. Such exposure strengthens your readiness to plan jointly with a future spouse, because you become skilled at coordinating responsibilities with maturity and agreement.
