10.03.24 The 4th Practice for Developing Financial Readiness as You Wait
4. Establish a Culture of Consistent Savings
As you wait, develop saving consistently. Establish emergency savings. Set aside money for foreseeable responsibilities so that obligations are handled without panic or crisis-driven decisions. Build resilient and diligent, even when the amounts appear small at the beginning. Train yourself to plan ahead so that unexpected expenses do not repeatedly disrupt your progress or create dependency on people. See what Proverbs 21:20 says (TLB): The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.
Develop the restraint to avoid unnecessary borrowing by learning to live within your means and delaying, postponing or even discarding non-essential spending. This will position you to handle predictable household demands with greater confidence and protect your future relationship from avoidable financial strain.
