17. Be Hospitable

Some of the most fulfilling moments that my husband and I have ever had was when we hosted Men and Women of God in our home. I do remember a time when a pastor from Uganda was planning to visit Arusha for ministry together with another pastor and one other minister, both from USA. We were staying in a really tiny three-bedroom house, and, looking at the size of the rooms, any sober-minded woman would have thought first before offering to accommodate the three Men of God. But we did! And, their stay was so memorable.

For Lydia, she was also very hospitable, as already mentioned in many places.

A value-adding church member is hospitable. This could include inviting church visitors to your home for a meal or even offering free accommodation. The bible teaches us to be hospitable to strangers as you could welcome angels without knowing it (Hebrews 13:1-2).

Therefore, what opportunities exist for you to be hospitable? For example, can you host cell group or church meetings in your home? Are you able to provide accommodation for ministers that visit your church? That said, make sure that they (visitors) are cleared by your church administration for security purposes, rather than opening your home to just simply anybody. The bible issues a warning in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 which surprisingly says (NKJV): ¹⁴And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. Scripture also narrates how Satan was among the people who came in God's presence (Job 1:6).
