04.06.20 The 16th Key for Adding Value to Your Church

16. Participate in Church Programs

The programing at Calvary Temple-TAG Arusha is one example of a church that gave us a wide opportunity to participate in its programs, one of which was as a leader of ‘cell groups’. That church uses a model where the groups are clustered into zones; and ours, Mjini Kati (Urban) was the largest zone comprising 8 cell groups. It was headed by my husband as one of the church elders. Interestingly, the zone operated as a small church with the elder having pastoral authority and overseeing fully-fledged church activities albeit at zone level. His status provided me with several opportunities for ministry as Mama Mzee wa Kanisa thence contributing to church edification and growth.

My other participation was through leading praise and worship. Although the church services would have schedules of worship leaders, it was very common for my senior pastor to invite me off-schedule to sing before he preached, so I had to be prepared for ministry all the time.

A value-adding church member participates in church programs such as prayer, fasting, cell group, women’s and men's fellowships, youth group, married fellowship, worship team and other music groups to mention a few; so that she grows with the rest and stays on the same page with fellow members.

Participating in church programs adds value since it keeps you spiritually healthy thence contributing to a vibrant church. Not only are you better positioned to pray for others, but able to live a Godly and exemplary life for others to follow (1 Corinthians 11:1).
