04.06.13 The 9th Key for Adding Value to Your Church

9. Display Faith in the Word

I do remember how I was drawn to a couple who were believing God for a second child; and although ‘everything’ was normal and healthy, they had been waiting for ages without breakthrough. I spoke the word of faith over them and made it a point to declare their breakthrough every morning on our prayer altar. And, you guessed it. They got the child.

Lydia comes across as a woman whose faith added immense value to the Philippian church. For instance, although the bible is silent about the extent to which she was equipped with the Word, I suggest that she and her team must have engaged the Word by faith, when praying for Paul’s and Silas’ release after the two had been thrown in prison. We know that as Paul and Silas worshipped, God unleashed an earthquake that broke the chains and opened the prison doors (Acts 16:16-40).

A value-adding church member is equipped with the Word. That is so important if one is to add value to the church since it is the Word that dictates how we behave within and outside the church setting. The Word provides the moral code to which we all subscribe. In fact, the bible cautions us regarding how the lack of the Word can be catastrophic (Romans 1:28-30).
