04.03.12 The 8th Key for Adding Value to Your Home
8. Create a Space for Working from Home
My husband and I are consultants. Therefore, our home has always reserved either a space or corner for our workspace. Plus, from a very young age, our children and other family members learnt not to disrupt us when we are working.
With advancements in technology, remote-working is becoming more and more popular, a value-adding home maker may need to improve her home such family members can work from there should that become necessary.
Therefore, create a workspace that can limit distractions and let family members know your schedule so that you can focus on your activities without interruptions.
Select a space that will set clear boundaries between your work and home life. Can you dedicate a separate room for that? Alternatively, you could demarcate part of a room to create a space where you can comfortably focus on your work and still be productive.
Children can also use the space to do their homework. If your schedules collide, find a quiet space for them, away from any form of distraction such as television and the like.
