04.04.16 The 12th Key for Adding Value to Your Husband's Life
12. Be a Reliable Partner
Personal reliability refers to keeping your promises to the extent that your husband has no doubt that you will stand on your word and perform as committed or expected.
One of the areas where my husband finds me reliable is in the preparation of a buffet in just a couple of hours, courtesy of the Home Economics that I was taught at Gayaza High School, coupled with my mother’s mentorship. Therefore, should visitors drop at our home unannounced, my husband is sure that they will be well-catered for in a timely, effective and delightful manner.
When we look at the story of Michal, David relied on her to help him escape from Saul’s assassins, despite the fact that she was the daughter of the wicked king (Saul). The bible does not report David having any reservations about the possibility of Michal siding with her father, and luring David into the trap that Saul and the killers had laid. In other words, David regarded Michal as a reliable partner, at least at that point.
A value-adding wife must be reliable. It indicates how you value your relationship with your husband and your preparedness to consistently deliver without letting him down.
Therefore, you must be reliable. Make sure that you honour your promises to your husband and of course other members of your family by being a woman of your word. Is your support, love and understanding consistent?
Be ready to help your husband with some of his responsibilities whenever possible rather than folding arms under the pretext that ‘my husband is supposed to do this or that’. Be sensitive to notice those times when he is overwhelmed so that you can lend him a helping hand. Let him know that he can always depend on you.
Deliver on your promises as that will show that you are reliable, consistent and worth trusting.
