2. Take Stock of What is on Ground

I cannot help but wonder how the Shunammite woman could have prepared to give Elisha a world class ‘accommodation experience’. She must have compared what she had with the kind of environment that the Man of God needed; after which she took stock of what was available. What room would be most befitting for the prophet? What furniture was available?

On our part, my husband and I hired an engineer and an architect and shared the kind of home that we wanted to create. Since the shell house was already in place, they had to make several adjustments before we could swing into putting the external and internal deco.

A woman who aspires to add value to her home must begin with taking stock of what is available.

It helps to take an open, honest and critical look at your environment at the moment. For instance, imagine that if someone who does not like you was to visit, what would he or she ‘pick you’ on? Observe the ceiling, walls, windows, flooring, furniture, curtains and so on; and how things are organised inside and outside the house. Would you give yourself good marks? Is what you are seeing exemplary? What would you prefer to change? Compile a list of those preferences.
