04.02.08 The 4th Key for Adding Value to Your Parents' Lives
4. Demonstrate a ‘Daughter’s Love’
When we look at Ruth’s situation, the young widow decided to forget her home and people; stay with Naomi and return with her to Bethlehem. That was how she (Ruth) demonstrated the love that she had for her mother-in-law.
On my part, the decision to stay with my dad as he went through his final days must have assured him of our love.
A value-adding daughter displays love to her parents rather than just talking about it, since actions speak louder than words.
Love is accompanied by actions (John 3:16). Demonstrating love to parents makes them feel appreciated and valued, sending a message that you are pleased to have them as part of your life. It indicates that if you had to choose parents, they would be your most preferred choice.
