08.05.22 The 5th Practice for Developing Healthy Decision-Making Skills as You Wait Actively Support Growth and Development in Your Partner

5. Actively Support Growth and Development in Your Partner

Support your partner’s development through encouragement, accountability and shared effort. Progress becomes meaningful when both partners are committed to helping each other grow.

Encourage and support your partner’s development through practical involvement and shared commitment. Create an environment where progress and improvement are welcomed and celebrated. Mutual support strengthens the unity of the relationship. Scripture captures this principle of mutual development when it observes that “as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). Working towards growth together enables both partners to achieve more than they could individually. Such partnership deepens relational connection and strengthens a lifelong commitment built on shared development.
