3. Does the Person Make Timely and Clear Decisions Rather than Delaying or Avoiding them?

Observe how the prospective partner responds when action has to be taken, arising from a decision that was made. Does the person reach a conclusion; or does she or he dilly-dally and sit on the fence? Once decisions are made, does the individual delay, hesitate or remain uncertain; or does she or he demonstrate clarity and timely action?

Sarah must have noticed Abraham’s decisiveness in moments requiring firm action. Rather than getting ‘paralysed’ by uncertainty, the man would act with clarity whenever decisions were required. This was evident when he obeyed God’s instruction to leave his homeland and move toward an unknown future, acting without hesitation (Genesis 12:1–4). She also witnessed his decisive leadership when he mobilised trained men from his household to rescue Lot after learning of his capture, responding promptly and with clear direction (Genesis 14:14–16).
