08.04.08 The 2nd Key for Evaluating a Prospective Partner's Readiness for Progress and Development
2. Does the Person Consider Long-Term Impact Before Making Decisions?
Observe how the prospective partner approaches decision-making and planning. Does the person consider how current choices could shape future outcomes; or does she or he live only in the present, pursuing spontaneous projects without foresight or proper preparation?
Asenath must have been drawn by Joseph’s ability to consider long-term impact before making decisions. She would have heard of how the man advised Pharaoh to prepare during the years of plenty so that Egypt would survive the coming famine (Genesis 41:34, KJV). His counsel to prepare during that period) reflected that ability.
Joseph must have observed Asenath’s ability to sustain stability within their household during a prolonged and demanding season (Genesis 41:50–52). Her consistency in managing the home and raising their sons during that time reflected a capacity to support decisions whose outcomes extended over time.
In contrast, Brenda rushed into a major construction project without planning, feasibility checks or long-term thinking. She impulsively bought a plot based on a TikToker's advice, then began building rental units ‘next week’ without proper structural plans or professional approvals. Her decisions were driven by excitement and urgency rather than sound strategy.
A progressive and development-oriented partner intentionally aligns present actions with future goals, assessing long-term impact before making decisions. The person recognises that today’s choices shape tomorrow’s stability. A partner with this mindset is more likely to build a strong foundation for a lasting relationship.
