08.02.23 The 5th Practice for Developing a Growth Mindset in Daily Relationship Life as You Wait Treat Challenges as Opportunities for Growth

5. Treat Challenges as Opportunities for Growth

Difficult situations often reveal areas that require maturity and patience. Instead of viewing challenges as interruptions to the relationship, treat them as occasions for development. When tensions arise, consider what the situation might be teaching about communication, expectations or personal attitudes. Growth frequently emerges from circumstances that require humility, perseverance or thoughtful dialogue. Scripture encourages this perspective when it teaches believers to “count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience” (James 1:2–3). By approaching challenges in this way, difficulties become part of the process through which character is strengthened.
