05.08.09 The 7th Managerial Flaw that Encourages Negative Gossip : Gossip-Tolerance
Gossip-Tolerance
Gossip-tolerance is a serious managerial flaw that creates a conducive environment for the vice to thrive.
For the case of Aaron, we see that he was too gossip-tolerant to the extent of considering gossip to be of higher priority than the ordinances of Jehovah God.
When it came to JuaLink, we can cite at least two examples that depict how some supervisors actually entertained negative gossip at the Agency. The first one was that of Obed the human resource officer and Njia the managing director, whose alarming tolerance for rumours was portrayed during management meetings whenever Faraja would raise a red flag against Lulu’s gossip; and the impact that it was having on her (Faraja) as an individual let alone the performance of her team. As already mentioned in several places, you may remember how the two men would consistently excuse the publicity officer by asserting that she was born that way; advising Faraja to either ignore Lulu’s gossiping tendency or simply adjust to it. The second example of gossip-tolerance was at board level, where Yubu had used Obed’s assertions to endorse a pricy yet unneeded investigation on Neema’s and Faraja’s seemingly questionable integrity. Those managerial shortcomings just fueled negative gossip the more.
