Lulu’s Fate

The news of Lulu’s termination came as a rude shock, since being the sister of the ex-managing director, she was used to being ‘untouchable’. Her first reaction was to claim that Faraja was related to the new board chairman, Niko; and that the publicity manager had used her influence to coerce the new board to sack Lulu. It took a firm warning from the Agency’s lawyer to silence the publicity officer. Sooner than later, Lulu was alarmed to find that no employer was willing to hire her once they discovered that the publicity officer’s chronic negative gossip had threatened JuaLink’s survival. Further, apart from Sarah, no member of the defunct prayer fellowship would pick Lulu’s calls or respond to her text messages. As the reality of her unemployability set in, Lulu was diagnosed with severe clinical depression and put on therapy.
