Our Contemplations on Possible Initiators of the Defamatory Rumour

Looking back and frankly speaking, it was not easy for us to put a finger on the exact person or clique that had fabricated the slanderous and defamatory rumour about us and run with it to the ‘particular circle’ that I mentioned earlier. What we knew was that a few days prior, we had declined a request from a seemingly unethical but ‘prospective partner’. Could he have felt so bitter that he concocted a false rumour? Then there was the official who detested the findings of our mystery shopping visits without hiding it. Could he have been so bitter as to lie about us in broad daylight? Last but not least, our model had just been show-cased in one of the big cities, with delegates from all-over the country. Could that publicity have triggered envy? We may never know. Although the gossipmongers remain camouflaged to date, what was true was that they had unleashed a fire that would be difficult to quench and tame, in the form of negative gossip.
