My First Face-to-Face with Real-Live Negative Gossip

My first exposure to real live gossip was after completing my first degree, when a set of relatives started bringing negative rumours about each other. Coming from a school where we were taught to say things as they are albeit courteously but without beating round the bush; my response was simple and quick: I sat them down and politely expressed my disinterest and unreadiness to be involved in their chatters; irrespective of the risk of alienating myself as well as showing a ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude.

My stand became even more concretised when I became born-again in 1985 and discovered that God hates negative gossip.
