Faraja’s First Publicity Breakfast Falls Through

Apparently, Faraja had tasked Lulu to follow up a reputable caterer, Jumbo Chefs, whose cuisine the threesome, Faraja, Lulu and Neema, had checked and approved. So, when a substandard caterer, Edisa Kitchens, showed up with dishes that most guests left untouched though the business discussions stayed on course, Faraja and Neema demanded an explanation from Lulu. “Procurement chose to use Obed’s wife as usual..., yet her food is always horrible”, Lulu had complained with unhidden disgust. It was at that point that Faraja, backed by a visibly irritated Neema, had declared that Edisa Kitchens should be replaced immediately. What the publicity manager and publicity assistant didn’t know was that Lulu had recorded their knife-cutting comments and shared them with Obed. Later that evening, the publicity officer dropped by Obed’s office; and as the human resource officer fumed about Faraja and Neema’s harsh comments, Lulu interjected, “Hmmm! There was nothing wrong with that food. Those two women must be up to something…”; a comment which drove Obed’s anger through the roof as he vowed to teach Faraja a lesson she would never forget.

The following day, the publicity officer trekked from office to office, jubilating that the breakfast event had flopped and that Faraja was incompetent. “See, they should have allowed me to manage the event, and all that money would not have been wasted”, Lulu kept declaring hoping to show that she had been the most befitting candidate for the publicity manager’s job. That same day, a revengeful Obed reported Faraja and Neema to his brother, Yubu, the board chairman, alleging that the two women were receiving kickbacks from suppliers. Thereafter, the board ordered an investigation but fortunately, it was proven that the rumour did not hold any weight.

However, at no time did Faraja or Neema ever suspect that Lulu had leaked their comments to Obed. On the contrary, the publicity officer continued to lure Faraja and Neema into complaining about several human resource inefficiencies, then ferry the comments to Obed thereby driving a wedge between them and the human resource department.
