Why You Should Avoid Participating in Negative Gossip

When you read my personal feature story in the first chapter of this book, one of the things you will notice is that my parents plus the schools I attended, Gayaza Junior School and Gayaza High School, created an environment where negative gossip would hardly thrive; although that vice almost killed me later in life. Therefore, the fact that negative gossip has a downside is no hidden secret.

This chapter discusses the drawbacks of engaging in negative gossip and why one should avoid participating in the vice. In order to explain those cons in more detail, we shall use examples from the feature-stories section or chapter one of this book. Specifically, we shall combine my personal encounter with the fictitious JuaLink story as well as Miriam and Aaron’s bible narrative. We will also draw some lessons from the story of Absalom, King David’s son, in 2 Samuel 13-15.
