01.07.09 The 7th Behaviour that Makes It Difficult for Others to Forgive You

7. Rejecting the Offender’s ‘Olive Branch’

Birungi explained how at one time, an employee had apologised to Lutalo, only to receive a cold response from the boss; “You already made that mistake…, it is too late to change anything”, the man had fumed.  Undoubtedly, Lutalo had made it difficult for the employee to forgive him.

Some people have the tendency to reject other people’s attempts to make-up; claiming that the damage has already been inflicted, and that there is nothing that can be done to erase the hurt and pain caused by the offender.  Needless to say, those seeking forgiveness could eventually give up, maintaining that they cannot beg for forgiveness forever.  Such tendencies only make the situation worse, cheating people from the joy that would have come out of repairing a damaged relationship.
