03.04.11 The 9th Consequence of Engaging in Corruption

Destroying Your Career Path Locally and Globally

Have you ever come across employees who seem to have been born with a silver spoon in their mouths?  An official gets promoted through the ranks and before long, the guy is rubbing shoulders with kings and queens of this present age!  That was the case with Daudi.  In a short span, the boy had blossomed into positions of influence.  But his flamboyant journey was cut short the day his corrupt tendencies were uncovered; leaving a slimy trail of sackings that reduced his hard-earned résumé to nothing, a thing which eventually sealed his fate as a professional Engineer.  In just a few years, his career path had been written-off.

See what Isaiah 5:22-24 (NKJV) says: 22Woe to men… 23Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!  24their blossom will ascend like dust …. Indeed, Daudi had risen through the ranks like a dust storm, here this minute but gone the next.

Corruption destroys one’s career path since no sober-minded organisation will hire a person with a fraudulent track record.  You may recall that for Daudi, it got to a point where he could no longer be recruited through normal channels.  He had to use his sister’s influence to get into FUNDIMara Technical College; a job which he also lost due to fraudulence.

Moreover, given the fast technology that has become the norm these days, a fraudulent track record can render a person globally unemployable since prospective employers will always conduct background checks on job applicants; which could lead to a person’s career path being destroyed for good.  Do you remember how the news of Daudi’s fraudulence went viral on social media?  In just an instant, every country on the globe had been alerted of the Engineer’s polluted reputation.  To make matters worse, there was no way that he could ever erase that record from the internet.  No wonder Ezekiel 22:12,16 warn that those engaging in corruptive activities will defile themselves in public.  It says (NKJV): 12In you they take bribesto shed blood… 16You shall defile yourself in the sight of the nations...
