Mama Tatu the ‘Nosy’ Church Elder

On the church front, the fruits of Daudi’s corrupt lifestyle had started to show, like a hidden teenage pregnancy.  Anyone could clearly tell that the young man’s life had taken a positive turn.  However, one of the church elders, Mama Tatu, was not quite convinced that the change was ‘positive’.  So, when the elder sat Daudi down, quoting a few scriptures and cautioning him lest he got lured into pursuing money at the expense of his faith, Daudi was extremely offended.  “Why is this woman on my case? What right does she have to mingle in my affairs? Is she God?  Is she my mother? My life is none of her business…” he fumed as he angrily sped through the traffic; resolving to continue with life as though no warnings had been issued.  In the years that followed, Daudi was shamelessly and forcefully asking for cuts left, right and center, without feeling any guilt or remorse.  It was as though 1 Timothy 6:10 had sprung to life for the Engineer.  Part of that verse reads (CEV): Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith…
