Recurrent Emotional Pain
Unforgiveness can be indicated if you re-experience pain at the recall of an offender or an offence; as a woman named Nassama discovered one day. She remarks how she had been shocked to discover that the emotional pain she had experienced at school three decades ago, recurred the day she set her eyes on an ex-school bully, Nyelo. “To be frank, the boy earned himself a place amongst those people who I loathed vehemently” Nassama confesses; recalling how she and her friends had celebrated when Nyelo left the school. “Can you imagine though?” she exclaims. “I met him at the ‘Old Students’ Celebration’ last month, but I could not even bring myself to sit next to him. Seeing Nyelo felt as though someone had scratched a wound that had never healed..., the resentment was still there…, buried for all these years!” Nassama confesses.
Whenever thinking, seeing or hearing about your offender regenerates the hurt the person caused you, that is a clear indication that you have never forgiven that offender.
